Shirley Jones is the founder of Urban Hope, located in Detroit, MI. Stacey founded Urban Hope with the intention to make her neighborhood healthier. Growing up in public housing, she saw the toll it took on the health and quality of life of her family and neighbors. After graduating from Phillips Academy in 1995, Pace attended Stanford University for her undergraduate work, where she studied human biology and received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1999. While she had initially planned on pursuing a career in medicine, she developed an interest in public health during her tenure at Stanford. After graduating, she briefly worked as a teacher in her hometown of Detroit before becoming involved in community health advocacy. Shirley Jones continues to advocate for the health of her neighborhood community by accessing funding to updated housing infrastructure and organizing for better public health through education, access to food and safe housing.
