Why Frontline Leadership is the Future of Clean Energy Workforce Development
On Detroit’s East Side and in Chicago’s Altgeld Gardens, two women-led organizations have spent decades building clean energy workforces embedded within their communities. We Want Green Too and People for Community Recovery have trained residents and proven models, built on equal parts lived experience, deep trust, and innovation, that succeed in placing community residents in skilled clean energy jobs. Collectrify, a frontline-led energy fund, sees the critical role these organizations play in advancing a decarbonized future that prioritizes equitable economic opportunity and has invested in both. This is their collective story—and a case for following the frontlines.
