Congratulations & Welcome!
Collectrify's New Governance Assembly Members
Collectrify’s work is shaped by the vision, insight, and leadership of our frontline grantees and partners. We are honored to collaborate with such talented, passionate, and courageous leaders from across the country.
In June, Collectrify’s grantee partners elected two grantee representatives to serve on our Governance Assembly.
Over her 26 years at Physicians for Social Responsibility–Los Angeles (PSR-LA), Martha Dina Arguello has worked to bring together the trusted voices of health professionals and frontline communities to fight for climate justice, environmental health, nuclear abolition, and a just transition to a care-based economy. For nearly five decades, Martha Arguello has been rooted in Los Angeles’s social justice movements, starting as a youth organizer and growing into a dedicated advocate, health educator, and coalition builder. She joined Physicians for Social Responsibility–Los Angeles (PSR-LA) in 1999 as a health education coordinator and has served as Executive Director since 2007.
As Executive Director and nearly lifelong resident of Concerned Citizens of Charles City County, La’Veesha Allen Rollins goals are to develop programs that will research existing energy generation, provide water, soil, and air quality testing baselines, and look to provide work force training in her region through Agri-Voltaics, regenerative farming, and building trade certifications. This idea came from research of a 1920's black owned cooperative in Charles City (The Mercantile Cooperative Company, a black-run cooperative store that provided independent resources to the community) that gives people of color financial independence. With this precedent, she intends to provide training to people within BIPOC communities to maintain access to sustainable careers and lead research efforts in energy and agriculture. La’Veesha hopes this will provide a base model for energy generation and sustainable jobs for all BIPOC communities.
These two leaders bring deep experience and grounded wisdom to our collective governance. Please learn more about them here and here. We’re thrilled to welcome them to the team and look forward to all that’s ahead.
