Collectrify is in Belém, Brazil to attend the United Nations Conference of Parties, COP 30 Brazil!
In June, I participated in the Policy Dialogue for Just Energy Transitions: Pathways to Prosperity Post Fossil Fuels (PPFF) convened by Salzburg Global, Climate Strategies, Stanley Center for Peace and Security, and Windward Fund.
Being part of this group of Salzburg Global fellows was an important part of my journey to Belém and the opportunities for climate action. The perspectives shared this summer from such a diverse and amazing group of together policymakers, researchers, modelers, and civil society leaders from various oil and gas dependent nations highlighted the complexities as well as opportunities to enable just energy transitions and support in inclusive economic solutions.
We can support managed fossil fuel decline by supporting community-led housing solutions and investing in the elimination of fossil fuels from buildings which is a critical and low-hanging fruit to achieving greenhouse gas reductions.
To do so, there needs to be a universal understanding of how building electrification can improve people’s lives.
Weatherizing homes, transitioning off of fossil fuel based appliances to heat pumps, and installing solar will not only reduce utility costs, but also improve health and well-being.
We look forward to continuing to be a part of the conversation on achieving a just energy transition and working together to create a just and clean energy future for all.
