Physicians for Social Responsibility - Los Angeles (PSR-LA), Center on Race Poverty & the Environment (CRPE), Self-Help Enterprises (SHE) and the California Building Energy, Equity, and Power (BEEP) Coalition led efforts to ensure that California’s $922M Equitable Building Decarbonization Program includes stronger tenant protections, evaluation measures to ensure the installation of quality retrofits, and healthy homes provisions, among other measures. Through their Tenant Power Toolkit, Debt Collective is building and organizing a base of tenants facing housing instability and poor living conditions in support of green and healthy social housing. Together with housing advocates, Debt Collective is working to ensure decarbonized housing is available for all for California tenants, and is in the process of expanding their work to other states.
