Physicians for Social Responsibility - Los Angeles (PSR-LA), Center on Race Poverty & the Environment (CRPE), Self-Help Enterprises (SHE) —along with Collectrify ally the Building Energy, Equity, and Power (BEEP) Coalition—co-developed California’s $521M Equitable Building Decarbonization Program to ensure the program includes strong tenant protections, evaluation measures to ensure the installation of quality retrofits, and healthy homes provisions, among other measures. The partners are advancing implementation efforts across the state with a priority on limited-wealth and environmental justice communities.

PSR-LA, CRPE, SHE, and members of the BEEP Coalition actively engage with the California Air Resources Board, California Energy Commission, and the California Public Utilities Commission to increase awareness of centering equity in building performance standards, building appliance standards, and indoor air quality proceedings.

Center on Race, Poverty, and the Environment (CRPE) led outreach and education efforts that engaged 100 families across three San Joaquin Valley communities in electrification pilots. These communities were among 170 in the valley that had never received gas infrastructure. In the first year, 80 families transitioned their appliances from propane to electric.
Debt Collective created the Tenant Power Toolkit (TPT) to organize, educate, and build a base of tenants to advocate for decarbonized green social housing for all in Los Angeles and beyond. Debt Collective is organizing around why building tenant power is crucial to tackling not just housing affordability and displacement but also the climate crisis.
