In May 2023, Collectrify hosted a three-day Learning Community Collaboratory Retreat in Detroit.
Collectrify partners We Want Green Too!, Soulardarity, Polar Bear Sustainable Energy Cooperative, Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition, and Hope Village Revitalization collaborate to advance equitable building electrification in their communities. They also collaborate with other local, state, and national organizations on energy efficiency and renewable programs to benefit Michigan low-income residents and ratepayers.
These Detroit-based partners hosted a tour of local workforce training and development programs, energy efficiency and equitable electrification implementation, and environmental justice success stories. The tour included Hope Village Revitalization’s cutting-edge La Salle Eco-Demonstration Home; training and mission-driven implementation work being led by We Want Green Too!; Polar Bear Sustainable Energy Cooperative pilots to perform energy efficiency, weatherization, electrification, and solar upgrades on homes; and environmental justice success stories from Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition.
Collectrify partners learned about Detroit’s economic, social, and political past and present.
